2016 ISSUES

As a statewide association, our primary focus is on legislative and regulatory issues.  This year, on behalf of the commercial real estate industry, we tracked 503 pieces of legislation in the California State Capitol.

We saw success on bills reforming ADA lawsuits, leasing language, energy policy, taxation, and water efficiency.  We were able to push back against several efforts to repeal Proposition 13, stack a local air board with political appointees, and severely restrict petitioning of state agencies by property owners impacted by their decisions.

Our industry also engaged regulatory agencies ranging from the California Energy Commission, Public Utilities Commission, Air Resources Board, Building Standards Commission, State Architect and Department of Finance on a range of policies, such as energy efficiency, greenhouse gas regulation, land-use and recycling, and a wide array of building code.

It is an honor to serve our industry, and when the Legislature comes back for the 2017-2018 Legislative Session, we look forward to continuing to work on your behalf!
