The CBPA Board also unanimously voted to endorse Proposition 69, the Transportation Taxes and Fees Lockbox and Appropriations Limit Exemption Amendment, is on the ballot for the June ballot as it was placed by the Legislature.
Prop. 69 is a Constitutional Amendment that will ban lawmakers from diverting new diesel sales tax revenues and/or new vehicle registration fees away from transportation efforts. This measure was part of a legislative package that included the SB 1 transportation funding package known as the “Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017,” and is meant to protect the estimated $5.2 billion-a-year increase in transportation-related taxes and fees from being diverted by the Legislature to non-transportation purposes.
