INDOOR HEAT REGULATIONS

The State of California is working on writing “Indoor Heat Regulations” as required by Senate Bill 1176, signed into law by Governor Brown in 2016.  As required by Labor Code Section 6720, the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) is convening an advisory meeting to develop a proposed regulation for minimizing heat-related illness among workers in indoor places of employment.

You are not reading that wrong.  This is a regulation on “indoor” heat illness.

You can read the draft by clicking here.

At the next advisory meeting, stakeholders and the public will have an opportunity to provide input on occupational health issues and practical issues to be considered in controlling employee exposure to indoor heat.

We are working with a coalition of employer groups to address these regulations but need member input. Please circulate with your Human Resources and provide feedback.
