California’s corps of green shaded budget analysts miscalculated costs for the state Medi-Cal program by $1.9 billion last year, which has put the state’s budget a bit out of whack. Mistakes happen. But the timing on this one is a bit awkward as it may be amplified by unknowns and transitions in federal funds and priorities.
